This product is a seamless (SMLS) titanium tube manufactured from commercially pure Titanium Grade 2 (UNS R50400) in strict accordance with the ASTM/ASME SB338 international standard. It is engineered for critical service in heat exchangers, condensers, and marine engineering applications. The seamless construction provides superior mechanical strength, pressure integrity, and reliability compared to welded alternatives. Made from Grade 2 titanium, it offers exceptional resistance to corrosion in a wide range of environments, particularly in seawater, chlorides, and other aggressive media encountered in offshore and marine systems. Its excellent balance of strength, ductility, and light weight makes it an ideal material for constructing highly efficient and durable heat transfer equipment and marine components.

2. Key Adventages

GR 2 is an industrial grade of pure titanium with medium strength, high corrosion resistance and easy formability. GR 2 is the most widely used of the 30 grades of titanium.

  • Offers outstanding resistance to corrosion, especially in seawater, chlorides, and a wide range of chemical media. It is virtually immune to pitting, crevice corrosion, and erosion-corrosion, which are common failures in marine and heat exchanger environments.
  • Provides mechanical strength comparable to some steels but at about 40% of the weight. This reduces the overall weight of systems, which is critical for offshore platforms and ships, improving efficiency and payload capacity.
  • Exhibits excellent fatigue strength and good toughness at low temperatures, ensuring long-term structural integrity and reliability under cyclic loading conditions, such as waves and vibrations.
  • While not the best, titanium's thermal conductivity is adequate for many heat exchanger applications. Its superb corrosion resistance allows for thinner wall tubes, which can compensate for and even enhance overall heat transfer efficiency.
  • Its resistance to corrosion significantly extends the service life of equipment, often outlasting copper-nickel alloys and stainless steels. This leads to reduced downtime, maintenance costs, and total cost of ownership over the asset's lifespan.


3. Key Applications

GR2 titanium alloy is widely used in the chemical industry. It is highly resistant to oxidation, alkalinity, organic complex acids, hydrochloric acid solutions, and high-temperature gases. It is also resistant to nitric acid, neutral reducing acids, wet chlorine, and bromine gases. GR2 titanium alloy is also used in heat exchangers, where it resists saltwater corrosion at temperatures up to 600°F. It is suitable for use in marine environments and desalination plants. GR2 is also used in power plants and the oil and gas industry.
